Product forms available

Hangbo supplies this grade in the following forms. Sizes outside the listed range can often be produced to order.

  • Forged flanges blanks and finished flanges to ASME B16.5, B16.47 Series A/B and B16.36
  • Butt weld elbows, tees, reducers, caps and stub ends to ASME B16.9 and MSS SP-43
  • Seamless pipe and tube to the applicable ASTM / ASME pipe specification
  • Forged rings, discs and hubs machined to your drawing

Typical applications

  • Wet process phosphoric acid evaporators and piping
  • Mixed nitric and hydrofluoric acid pickling lines
  • Commercial fertiliser and phosphate production equipment
  • Strongly oxidising chemical process vessels

Welding, forming and machining

Welding
Weld with ERNiCrMo-11 filler by GTAW or GMAW. Good weldability; the niobium stabilisation limits heat affected zone precipitation.
Heat treatment
Solution anneal at 1175 °C and water quench.
Hot and cold forming
Hot work in the range stated by the mill for this grade, then re-solution or re-age before final machining so that the delivered condition matches the certificate.
Machining
Machine with sharp carbide or high-speed steel tooling, positive rake, constant feed and ample coolant. Never dwell - the surface work-hardens quickly.

Hastelloy G-30 frequently asked questions

What is the chemical composition of Hastelloy G-30?
Hastelloy G-30 is supplied to the following composition limits: Nickel (Ni) Balance (about 42 %); Chromium (Cr) 28.0 - 31.5; Iron (Fe) 13.0 - 17.0; Molybdenum (Mo) 4.00 - 6.00; Tungsten (W) 1.50 - 4.00; Copper (Cu) 1.00 - 2.40; Niobium (Nb) 0.30 - 1.50; Carbon (C) 0.03 max. Single figures are maximum limits unless shown as a range; the heat analysis on your EN 10204 3.1 certificate is the governing record.
Which specifications cover Hastelloy G-30 flanges and pipe fittings?
Forged flanges and forging stock: ASTM B564 / ASME SB-564 (UNS N06030). Butt weld elbows, tees, reducers and caps: ASTM B366 / ASME SB-366 (WP grade to order). Hangbo supplies to these specifications with dimensional compliance to ASME B16.5, B16.47 or B16.9 as applicable.
What is Hastelloy G-30 normally used for?
The main uses are wet process phosphoric acid evaporators and piping; mixed nitric and hydrofluoric acid pickling lines; commercial fertiliser and phosphate production equipment. Buyers pick it where the alternative would be a lower alloyed grade that would not survive the service.
Can Hangbo supply Hastelloy G-30 elbows, tees and flanges from stock or to order?
Yes. We forge and machine flanges to ASME B16.5 and B16.47, form butt weld elbows and tees to ASME B16.9, and supply matching seamless pipe, all from the same heat where required so that the whole spool carries one set of mechanical properties. Lead times depend on size and quantity - send the drawing or the line list for a firm quote.
